Heartland Frontier Content Update - v0.1.8

Heartland Frontier is a challenging tile-based 4x strategy game where you fight feudal lords and tribal chieftains in the hope of unifying your homeland and resisting foreign invasion. The heartland is the last true untamed frontier on the continent, a depopulated realm trapped between 4 great powers

Starting Position: Tribe

Tribes are characters without a base and roam the map with a standing army. They gain soldiers from plundering holdings on the map and they regenerate manpower passively. They are high-risk, high-reward that can result in great starts or horrible failures.

Obviously being a tribe in the long-term has drawbacks, you won't be able to form a faction and will have no chance of unifying the heartland against foreign invasion. However starting the game as a tribe gives you a new toolset to approach the game with.

This new mechanic will also affect gameplay through random events. Tribes will now occasionally migrate to the frontier from the four Great Powers. Playing as feudal lord now means you face the known-enemies like rival lords, but also unknown hordes that are lurking just across the border.

Starting Position: Explorer

Starting as an explorer gives you the resources to found your own colony and grow it into a city while you live off the land. Starting as an explorer means the entire map has already been explored, giving you a flexible start.

Plunder and loot the frontier to recruit soldiers while you found your capital. Explorers start with elite soldiers but if they do not recruit natives they will be quickly overwhelmed.

Starting Position: Lord

Lords are feudal masters that rule over the cities on the frontier. Lords start the game with their power-base established and can quickly transition into fast offensive campaigns or a defensive economic boom. However they must protect their lands from rival lords and invading tribes.

Misc / Minor Content

Mercenary Camp: There is now a minimum amount of time the camp will stay in one location.

UI: Start menu has been cleaned up a bit more. Added mini-devlog to fill space. Random button added to start game options.

I try to make a video every few devlogs. In this video I talk about resource management and economy, it will give you a feel for how the game plays.
