Irish Kings



Ireland has been added as a fully-playable part of the campaign map! The island consists of 12 new territories, and is home to 4 new factions.

You can divide the new territories into 4 provinces.

  • Ulster - The northern province made up of Tyrone, Antrim and Armagh
  • Leinster - The eastern province made up of Dublin, Longford and Wexford
  • Munster - The southern province made up Limerick, Waterford and Cork
  • Connacht - The western province made up Sligo, Mayo and Galway


Along with these new lands, we have a new faction for each of the provinces.


Ulster controls 1 of the 2 water ways that allow you to move between Ireland and Britain. You will have to decide whether to fortify the coast to protect against attack, or invade Scotland via the sea.

Leinster controls 1 of the 2 water ways that allow you to move between Ireland and Britain. You will have to decide whether to fortify the coast to protect against attack, or invade Wales via the sea.

Munster controls the southern part of Ireland. You are locked in a balance of power with Connacht. Do not over extend or they will take full advantage of your weak frontier.

Connacht controls the western part of Ireland. You are locked in a balance of power with Munster. Do not over extend or they will take full advantage of your weak frontier.

Finally lets have a look at the campaign map as it stands. 3 Months after the first build of Saxon Kings, you can now play 13 factions across a campaign map of 11 provinces and 40 territories.

It was my goal at the start of the year to expand content to keep people playing longer. I believe this goal has largely been achieved. The map offers a variety of content for new and returning players alike.


For the medium-term the map will remain as it stands. There is enough factions and territories to offer different and often tricky encounters. Different kingdoms will rise and fall every simulation you play.


In the short-term we look ahead to adding depth to the AI decision making process, as well as domestic and foreign politics.
