Battle for Europe 1900
Battle for Europe 1900 is a World War I Grand Strategy game. It is the only game in the genre that is actively supported and updated.
Economy
- Construct Factories: Each land province contains a number of factories. Factories generate income every turn. The more factories you have the better. You can spend your cash to build more factories.
- Raise Divisions: Divisions are raised in land provinces. They fight defensive battles when attacked by a hostile power. You can attack adjacent enemy provinces to capture more land.
- Build Warships: If a land province is not landlocked, it will have a port. Warships are built in ports. You can fight naval battles for control of the local sea province.
Trade
- Trade Networks: Sea provinces allow for trade between nations. Land provinces are connected to a local sea province via a port. The number of ports determines the value of trade.
- Naval Power: The sea province is owned by the power who has their navy active in the sea. To gain control of the sea, you will have to fight a naval battle against the active navy.
- Trade Relations: If you do not control the sea province, you can still gain trade income. A country that is allied with the sea province owner will gain more than a country that is embargoed by the owner.
Diplomacy
- Diplomatic Status: Relations with other powers exist on a spectrum. The higher you are the closer you are to a military alliance. The lower you are the closer you are to war.
- AI Personalities: The AI has their own opinion of you. If they are hostile they will want to declare war on you. If they view you as a partner they will want to form an alliance.
- Diplomatic Points: You can spend diplomatic points at any time to decrease relations. To improve relations you will need the AI to have a positive opinion of you.
- War Declarations: Wars are fought when relations decrease so much that one side declares war. During a war you can use your army and navy to capture enemy provinces.
- Truce Periods: When a war ends a truce is formed between nations. You cannot declare war on a country that you have a truce with.
Land Combat
- War Requirement: You must be at war to fight land battles. Adjacent provinces can attack each other. It is important to garrison your frontline or the enemy will capture your provinces without a fight.
- Defensive Placement: Divisions are placed in territories to protect them from attack. The more soldiers you have in a territory the less likely they are to be attacked and captured.
- Offensive Manoeuvres: If your attack is successful you will break through the enemy lines and capture the province. When attacks fail both sides remain in their provinces and only lose Divisions.
Naval Combat
- War Requirement: You must be at war to fight naval battles. Warships in port can attack the fleet guarding the local sea province. You cannot attack enemy fleets in port, only the fleet that is on the high seas.
- Trade Access: Controlling the sea province allows you to dictate who has access to trade. Your enemies will have no access, neutral countries have partial access and allies will have full access.
- Naval Invasions: The country that controls the sea province can perform naval invasions. Any land province can attack another land province via the sea if they both have a port in the local sea province.

Hello, I really enjoy this game and have had several hours of fun playing it.
There are a few things I would change but mainly I would like an option to hold and click the mouse buttons in order to move divisions. As it is, clicking over and over gets a little tedious when you have a large number of divisions, so being able to hold right click to take away troops and left click to place them again would be a huge quality of life improvement.
A couple of people in the Discord community have made the same point so you are not alone.
The first major update is coming 28 March which will add mechanics to land combat. You will be glad to hear several changes are being made to address this problem.
New properties such as manpower strength, attack and defence modifiers as well as division reinforcement will increase the value of each individual addition.
You will no longer move around individual divisions. Instead you will create a Corps of up to 5 Divisions. Each territory can contain a single Corps so a lot less micro for a more realistic result!
If you are someone that enjoys playing the game, I would encourage you to join the Discord to stay in the loop with development. As well as contribute feedback to the direction of the game.
Fun but literally impossible to play as a minor nation especially Greece you get declared on in 4 turns and cant do anything to stop it.
You're absolutely right—Greece, along with other minor nations, aren't in a playable state right now. My current focus is on refining the mechanics for the great and secondary powers, as they shape the overall flow of the game.
My development timeline is structured in phases: March is focused on refining land combat, June will bring updates to the economy, September will improve diplomacy, and December will introduce more nation customization. These systems need to be solid before smaller nations like Greece can be balanced properly.
If you're interested in the game, consider joining the Discord. I regularly discuss changes, share updates, and gather feedback from the community to help shape the game’s direction. You sound like a valueable member!
I wish I could but I have no way to join :(.
Very nice game, like where it's going!
found the following bug on windows:

this was when playing AH and moving fleets randomly for one turn and it crashed
Deleted my previous response as I was able to replicate the bug and have a fix that will go into the 28 February 0.15 build. The issue is with how sea nodes behave when it doesn't have a fleet.
Thanks again for posting the crash log! Always helpful!
I like this! Interested to see where this goes next.
Expect a minor update every Friday that includes bug fixes and additional content. In March Land Combat is getting overhauled and you will have to manage your Armies, Corps and Divisions.
People contribute ideas and feedback via Discord and you are always welcome to join!
Noice! :)
the game crahses on browser after a few turns, i dont know why
Thank you for letting me know about the crash. I want to mention that the Windows version is the primary platform for the game, and the browser version is meant to serve as a demo.
From my own testing, I haven’t encountered any crashes. If you can identify what triggered the crash or provide more details about the circumstances (such as the actions you took before it happened), it would help me investigate further. Without that information, it's challenging to pinpoint the issue.
Thank you for your understanding!
it just happend randomly after some turns, but it seems to only happen when i play germany
I’ve personally played through a campaign as Germany on the browser version and did not encounter any crashes. But I understand that crashes can occur in your playthrough and not in mine.
When the game crashes on Windows, it generates a report that you can copy and paste here. You can see a previous post below from Fantofire, where they pasted the report and I was able to fix the bug within an hour.
Unfortunately, this is not available in the browser-based version, which is a limitation of running the game in a browser.
This is why I primarily recommend and support the Windows version for troubleshooting and stability. If you experience similar issues on the Windows version, please share the report, and I’ll be able to help.
Thank you for your understanding!
Game crashes when opening diplomacy screen after a few turns
Browser or Windows?
Did you use mouse input or keyboard hotkeys?
Did you open Diplomacy by selecting the button in the top right or via a selected territory in the bottom left?
Both in browser and windows. I clicked a territory and then clicked diplomacy and it just crashed. On browser is just goes blackscreen
Ok good. It can be fixed given what you told me. When it crashes on Windows it will give an error message. Can you copy and paste this error message on here and I will fix it.

This bug has now been resolved in the Browser and Windows versions.
I appreciate you taking the time to flag this issue. I can only fix bugs when people bring them to me. So thanks for that - good spot on your part.
Finally a new update
Let me know if the Learning Guide isn’t detailed enough. I want to know if I am not properly explaining the new mechanics.
How do you move troops?
Please bring an update
No I have no plans to update this game, but your feedback has been noted.
I like the game however there is a problem scrolling the map and of course a bug breaking the game after I have occupied some regions - I play Austria Hungary - there is some things left to do when it comes to user ergonomy(friendlines) of the interface. This is my wishlist
I need a .zip file for this game, the .exe is messing with my system as it wont run
I appreciate your interest, but this game is no longer supported and I will not update it again. I will be releasing a game similar to this before the end of the summer, in the meantime please check out Saxon Kings. Thanks!
I cannot seem to figure out the controls
Fun, took me a while to figure out the controls, functions & how to navigate the UI. No end game screen. Not excited to play again.
Because its Windows?
Same
if you open the technology screen you can't close it
Tab will close the screen but I will add a button for the new version coming end of this month.
when already?
I spent about 3 months on a new build with 9 new nations as well as a new crisis system that would start wars. Unfortunately it was never released. You can find my current project Saxon Kings which gets all of my time now.
